Queer theology, and to some extent queer theory, has been concerned to distance queer people from reproduction because of its association with heterosexuality and the implication that relationships in which biological reproduction is not a possibility without technological assistance are somehow less than other relationships. I cannot shake the feeling that too often queer theology reproduces conventional structures due to fear—fear that our work will not be recognized as rigorous—and not because something new would be ambitious.
