The correlation between P a CO 2 and P tc CO 2 has been studied in stable subjects with lung diseases, 1 in critically ill subjects, 2 — 5 during cardio-pulmonary exercise testing 6 and in circulatory stable subjects; both inactive and during exercise. Reference values were based on equations from the European Community for Coal and Steel.
